Angela Rayner is set to launch a new podcast as she looks to expand her national profile ahead of a potential Labour leadership contest, according to reports. The move comes as bookmakers continue to cast doubt over Sir Keir Starmer’s long-term position, with Rayner leading the way in the latest next Prime Minister odds after Keir Starmer.

Angela Rayner next Labour Leader odds

Next Labour LeaderOddsChance
Angela Rayner9/430.8%
Wes Streeting11/215.4%
Ed Miliband7/112.5%
Andy Burnham17/210.5%
Shabana Mahmood9/110.0%
Sadiq Khan16/15.9%
Yvette Cooper16/15.9%

Rayner’s growing prominence comes at a time of wider political uncertainty. Recent shifts in the odds on whether Keir Starmer could resign this year underline increasing speculation about his future, while nationally there has been growing interest in alternatives to the main parties, reflected in the current betting on Restore Britain’s chances at the next General Election.

The podcast, titled Beyond the Bubble, will see Rayner speak with figures from across politics and public life. In the pilot episode, she is set to interview former Conservative minister Michael Gove, with discussions expected to centre around housing policy, an area where both politicians have previously held senior roles as Housing Secretary. Future episodes will feature voices from across the UK, with a focus on real-life housing issues and experiences.

The project is being produced by Global, the media company behind Capital, LBC and Classic FM, giving the podcast significant reach across multiple platforms. Rayner has previously been outspoken on political standards, once describing MPs holding second jobs as “beyond shameful”. Her latest move signals a shift towards a more direct form of communication with the public, at a time when speculation around Labour’s future leadership continues to build. Note that our earlier Angela Rayner Labour leader analysis covers the full context of her rise in the market.
